Floating hotel

location: Belgrade, Serbia

design team: Marko Korošec, Dušica Oparnica

area: 400.0 sqm

project year: 2015.

A project ordered by the private client for a new Belgrade boutique hotel. The hotel is located on the banks of Danube River and in the center of Serbian capital city as well.

Building on water is something RA team approaches with great enthusiasm. In this case, thirteen small rooms with great views of the river and cityscape were designed, together with other accommodation utilities.

Positioned within high river vegetation the building gives an ambiance and notion of a river shack. It is formed out of four individual buildings with inner corridors and platforms that both connect and separate them. It provides each guest with the feeling that they have their own personal river house. The main staircase and the lobby with a fireplace is a central focal point which overlooks the Danube River through a high glass terrace wall. Additional and a more private terrace on the second-floor hosts a sauna and a spa.

The main building material is wood. From frame construction to the wall and floor covering the entire structure over steel raft foundation is made out of wood. The outer side walls are covered in metal, the same way as the roof. The front and the back façade wall are covered with room windows and dynamic vertical shads in front of them.
